Why I Ditched PatientPop and Built My Own Website Using WordPress
When it comes to running a successful medical practice, having an efficient and professional online presence is key.
For a while, I relied on PatientPop to handle my website and appointment scheduling.
Unfortunately, what seemed like a convenient solution turned into a frustrating experience. You can read all about my PatientPop issues here.
What Went Wrong with PatientPop
PatientPop initially appeared to be a seamless option for managing patient communications, but it didn’t take long for issues to arise.
The system frequently sent my patients reminders with incorrect information—wrong appointment times, confusing messages, and even reminders for canceled appointments. I attempted several times to notify PatientPop. I submitted countless of tickets. However, nothing was resolved.
These errors weren’t just an inconvenience; they caused unnecessary stress for my patients and disrupted the flow of my practice. Patients would show up to my office during day or not at all. They would call my clinic, upset.
After countless attempts to resolve these issues with PatientPop’s support team, I realized it was time for a change. My patients deserve better, and so does my practice.
Taking Matters Into My Own Hands
With PatientPop out of the picture, I decided to take control of my practice’s website and build one myself.
At first, the thought was intimidating—I’m not a web developer, after all.
But I quickly learned that creating a website doesn’t require expert-level coding skills, just the right tools and a willingness to learn.
And everything, I mean everything, is a YouTube tutorial now.
How I Built My Website Using WordPress and Tyler.com
When I searched, “how to build a wordpress website” on YouTube, I found content creator Tyler’s YouTube channel.
His video guide is linked here.
The video is 90 minutes long, and it’s well worth the watch. In fact, I build this entire blog (solopractice.com) using his guide.
In summary, the basic steps are as follows
#1 – Find your domain name on a website like godaddy.com
#2 – Host your website on a hosting site like hostgator.com
#3 – Start Your Design on WordPress
#4 – Download a well made template on Tyler.com
#5 – Fine Tune and Edit Your Website.
I made my personal practice website (stratuseye.com) using his guide as well.
The YouTube video also linked other amazing references, notably Tyler.com.
For the uneducated (which included me), WordPress is a tool that helps you create and manage websites easily, even if you don’t know how to code. It has templates and plugins you can use to design your site and add features like blogs or online stores. It’s simple, flexible, and great for beginners and experts alike.
Sneak Peek of My New Website
While the website isn’t live yet, I’m excited to share that it looks amazing and functions flawlessly.
It took me about 3 hours to create.
It’s clean, user-friendly, and fully represents the level of care my practice strives to provide.
Below is a preview of our website. It’s still on WordPress and it’s not live yet.
